Must-visit places in Corfu

At the heart of Corfu, Liston square is the top meeting point of Corfiots and the most idyllic place of the center of Corfu to wander or enjoy drinks and coffee at the existing modern cafeterias. Rue de Rivoli of Paris was the inspiration for the architecture of Liston Square which nowadays constitutes one of the best places of Corfu that you will definitely not forget to visit.

On the island of Corfu you may find two gems in terms of architecture, the Old and New Fortress. The Old Fortress, one of the most magnificent constructions of the island, was built during the Byzantine Empire. Featuring imposing walls and a moat just before entering its central gate, this fortress gains the attention of tourists who never miss the chance to discover every side of it.

A wetland of great significance, Korission Lake to the south of Corfu, is separated from the Ionian Sea by a narrow strip of land, forming two brilliant beaches of South Corfu, namely Chalikounas and Issos. Home to various and numerous species of birds, Korission Lake belongs to the greatest habitats of Corfu and is undoubtedly must-visit.

A landmark of Corfu, Vlacherna Monastery is the most photographed and visited spot of this island. No visitor has ever left Corfu without heading to this amazing location situated opposite the area of Kanoni and Pontikonissi Island – a tiny densely-forested islet.

One of the most visited and famous areas of Corfu, Paleokastritsa, features several bays and amazing waters, being surrounded by magnificent rock formations.
